Main Applications
L-Isoleucine is one of the nine essential amino acids for humans and a member of the branched-chain amino acid family; it cannot be synthesised by the body and must be supplied through the diet. It plays an important role in maintaining muscle metabolism, tissue repair and blood glucose homeostasis, and is oxidized directly in skeletal muscle to fuel endurance performance and post-exercise recovery. These functions support its widespread utilisation in sports nutrition, as well as its inclusion as a key ingredient in foods for special medical purposes intended for liver conditions.
